A sound boom is more than just a loud sound. They are shock waves. This phenomenon occurs when an aircraft flies at or above the speed of sound. The people on the ground heard a sound like thunder.
Things are easy if the plane flies subsonic. The pressure disturbance spreads in all directions. The sound continued to echo on the ground. There are no sudden changes in air pressure. you don’t get it.
Sonics changed everything. The pressure field is stuck. Form a cone behind the spaceship. This is Mach’s cone. Moving backwards increases width.
The machine moves forward. The end of this cone hits the ground. This influence creates wealth. It was a sharp, loud sound.
Strength is key. Low-flying supersonic jets can destroy the glass. It can do real damage. There are several factors that determine the loudness of a sound.
- The distance between the plane and the ground.
- The size and shape of the aircraft.
- Action to be performed.
- Pressure, temperature, wind.
Long aircraft can produce double sonic booms. You will hear two different sounds. One comes out of the nose. The second starts at the tail.
This is how physics works. This is not magic. It’s just fast moving fluid mechanics.
